| Characteristics | Universal
Hard Oil is a high quality product. It penetrates deeply into the
wood, enhances the grain, and gives an open pored, silky matt, hardwearing
and water-resistant finish, with very little yellowing. |
| Ingredients | Aliphatic hydrocarbons,
colophony resin, microwax, clay, castor oil, cobalt, zirconium, zinc and
manganes octoate driers, silicic acids, citrus peel oil, safflor oil. |
| Application | Universal
Hard Oil is suitable for absorbent interior surfaces, especially cork
and timber floors, as well as stairs, furniture, wood panelling, clay
tiles and interior metal work. |
| Preliminary treatment | Surface
must be dry (max. moisture: 14%), clean and free from grease. If necessary,
clean with Thinner. Remove all old paint or varnish. Sand furniture
with 240 grade sandpaper, floors with 120 grade sandpaper. Do not use
if temperature is below 16°C. |
| Directions for use | 1.
Floors and staircases For better saturation and strength it is recommended to prime new floors with Universal Priming Oil. Then apply one or two coats of Universal Hard Oil thinly and evenly by brush, roller, squeegee or spray gun and allow to dry. Too thick a coat will cause drying problems. Treat cork floors with two thin coats of Universal Hard Oil after priming with UNIVERSAL PRIMING OIL 3755. Unsealed lino is only given one or two coats of Universal Hard Oil. Ceramic tiles can be sealed with Universal Hard Oil. 2. Furniture and panelling Prime highly absorbent surfaces with Universal Priming Oil, then apply one or two coats of Universal Hard Oil thinly and evenly (brush, roller, squeegee or spray gun). If only the Universal Hard Oil is used, apply two to three thin coats. After the first coat the surface may be sanded while still wet. If necessary, sand between coats with 240 grade sandpaper for stairs, furniture or panelling, 120 grade for floors. If the finish is patchy (dull patches), sand after drying and apply one more coat of Universal Hard Oil. Make a trial first! Technical spraying data: Compressed air: 1-1.5 mm nozzle, 2-2.5 bars spraying pressure Airless: 0.23-0.28 mm nozzle, 4 bars spraying pressure, 80 bars material pressure. Important: Make sure to ventilate well when working with the product and while it is drying! |
| Drying | Touch-dry
after 6-12 hours. Can be sanded and recoated after 12-24 hours (20°C,
50-55% relative air moisture). Can be waxed when dry. Start using carefully
after three days. Fully hardened after 7-14 days. Consult cleaning advice. |
| Coverage | Depends on the
absorbency of the surface: 10-15 m² per litre. |
| Cleaning of implements |
Clean with Thinner.
Leave Thinner
to stand, decant clean liquid and use again. |
| Storage | Seal well and
keep in a cool dry place. Keep leftovers in smaller containers and close
well to prevent skin. If a skin has formed, remove before using again. |
| Safety precautions | Flammable
Class A III! Danger of spontaneous combustion! Keep rags soaked in Universal Hard Oil in water or allow to dry out completely. Keep away from children. The raw materials used can cause a smell that is typical of the product. |
| Disposal | Ask advice about
quantities to prevent leftovers. Clean containers and take to a recycling
centre. Do not dispose of solvent-based products carelessly. Dried-out
leftovers can be disposed of with your household rubbish. |
