| Characteristics | Herbal
Wood Primer is an oily impregnation made from natural raw materials.
It contains zinc oxide (anti-fungal), which gives it a whitish tinge,
but on untreated wood it dries colourless. Makes the wood evenly absorbent,
saturates it and provides protection against animal pests. It improves
the adherence of subsequent varnish and enamels. Zinc oxide has a strong
anti-fungal effect). |
| Ingredients | Aliphatic hydrocarbons,
citrus peel oil, castor oil, linseed oil, colophony resin ester, cobalt,
zirconium and zinc-octoate driers, beech wood tar oil, lavender, stone
pine, rosemary and zinc oxide. |
| Application | For priming smooth
and rough exterior hardwoods and softwoods, especially external panelling,
windows, garden furniture, cold frames, etc. |
| Preliminary treatment | Surface
must be dry (wood moisture under 14%) and free of grease. If necessary,
clean with Thinner. Remove all previous coats. Timber containing
tannic acid (oak) or tropical woods (e.g. Framire) for exterior fittings
like windows, doors, etc., should be thoroughly cleaned with turpentine
substitute, treated with 1% caustic soda and then neutralised with vinegar
water and thoroughly cleaned with clean water. |
| Directions for use | Stir
thoroughly. Brush or spray once or twice in the space of 12-24 hours.
Wood can also be steeped (keep stirring). Can be painted after 12-24 hours. When steeping, extractors should be used. Take care to ventilate well and avoid open fires (no smoking!). Do not leave in the rain, as this may cause staining. When priming wood with remains of old varnish, mix the Wood Primer 50-50 with the varnish concerned. Important: Make sure to ventilate well when working with the product and while it is drying! |
| Drying | Dry
after 6-12 hours (20 - 23°C / 50 - 55% relative air moisture). |
| Coverage |
1 litre covers 7-10 m² depending on the absorbency of the wood. |
| Cleaning of implements |
Clean
with Thinner. |
| Storage |
Seal well and keep
in a cool, dry place. |
