| Characteristics |
Wood-Bliss is a concentrated, water-soluble wood preservative that is free from solvents or pesticides and is effective against both insect and plant pest, especially against termite attack. It also strengthens the wood and acts as a fire retardant. It emits no chemicals, has a neutral smell and can reduce toxic emissions from the wood itself. Wood-Bliss meets European standards EN 46 against insect pests (longhorn) and EN 113 against rot. Its effectiveness against termites was tested and confirmed by the Mississippi Forest Products Laboratory (US); its fire retardant properties by the Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (US). Wood-Bliss reduces the emission of wood toxins (it binds any toxins present in the timber) and emits only water, as was tested and confirmed by the University of Hamburg-Harburg. Wood-Bliss changes the walls of the wood cells by way of a mineral silification process. This means that pests are no longer able to recognize or eat the wood to the depth of penetration by Wood-Bliss; In addition, the timber is hardened and made less susceptible to fire. The very alkaline silification process kills any moulds present in the wood by destroying their cell structures. Insects in the timber are immobilized and killed, and the silification of the wood surface prevents re-infestation. The wood is also hardened and made less susceptible to fire damage |
| Ingredients |
Water, cellulose, Xanthan (polysaccharide), vegetable oils, potash, silicates,
plant colours, natural resins, lignin, silicic acids, wood sugar, natural
tree acids. |
| Application | Wood-Bliss is used for preventive and curative wood preservation and for hardening the wood surface. Effective against insect and plant pests (including termites). Wood-Bliss can be safely used in places where food is stored and where it would come into contact with people with allergies, sick people, babies and animals (e.g. bees, horses). |
| Directions for use | Before using Wood-Bliss, mix one part of the concentrate (stir well before using) with three parts of water and mix thoroughly. It can be applied by brush, roller, and dipping or pressure treatment, depending on what is being treated. ALWAYS APPLY TWO COATS, but the first coat must be fully dry before applying the next one. To treat woodworm effectively, inject into the bore holes. Excessive use of the preservative or a chemical reaction with some kinds of timber can cause slight staining, but the stains are easily brushed or sanded off or covered with paint. Until Wood-Bliss has fully hardened (after approximately 6 weeks) it can still be washed out, so do not leave treated wood outside without proper cover. Important: Hardwoods and timbers with strong tannin content (e.g. oak) will discolour. The second coat of Wood-Bliss can only be applied once the wood moisture is below 20%. Do not use implements made from aluminium or zinc. Make sure all glass panelling, aluminium and zinc are protected before starting the treatment. Do not use below 5° C. When used against moulds or rot, apply in the same way as conventional products. It is essential that all sources of dampness are eliminated, otherwise effective treatment is impossible. Wood-Bliss cannot restore rotten timber. When used on visible surfaces like furniture and pieces of art, make sure to do a test first on the least obvious spot. Important: Make sure to ventilate well when working with the product and while it is drying! |
| Drying | With
an average temperature of 20°C and relative air moisture of 60%, the second
layer of Wood-Bliss can be applied after 24 hours. |
| Coverage | Depending on the absorbency and roughness of the wood, 1 litre of undiluted Wood-Bliss will cover approx. 40 m². | Cleaning
of implements |
Clean
with water and soap immediately after use. |
| Storage |
Keep in a cool dry
place and close well. Put remains into smaller container and close well. |
| Safety Precautions |
Wood-Bliss in solution
is alkaline (after drying, the product is PH neutral) and will irritate
the skin. Please wear gloves and protective goggles while using the
product. When in contact with skin or eyes as well as with glass, metal,
wood, paint and other surfaces susceptible to alkaline substances, wash
immediately with copious amounts of water. When in contact with the
eyes, consult a doctor. Keep away from children. Do not flush undiluted
Wood-Bliss down sink or toilet. The raw materials used can cause a smell
that is typical of the product! |
| Disposal | Ask advice about quantities to prevent leftovers. Clean out containers and take to a recycling centre or use again. Dried-out leftovers can be disposed of with your household rubbish |
