    BATIM SOFTWOOD LYE

    Technical Information Sheet

    Characteristics A ready to use product for softwood such as pine, spruce, pitch pine etc. The yellowing process of the wood is slowed down and therefore preserves the light character of the wood. An after treatment with BATIM Soap white 2092 gives the surface a white scrubbed touch. An after treatment with BATIM Soap 2091 or BIOFA Hard Floor Wax 2060 preserves the original look of the wood. Use on floors, walls, ceilings, doors, furniture etc.

    Ingredients Water, lime, titanium dioxide, tensides.

    Directions for use
    • Preliminary treatment
      Wood must be untreated, finely sanded, clean and dry (max. wood moisture 14%).
    • Application
      Make sure to shake or stir product well before each and every application. Apply rich and even layers using lye-resistant roller or brush. Always follow texture of fibre. Immediately re-apply product on dry areas until an even, whitish layer has formed.
    • Intermediate and final treatment
      A second application (after 2 - 5 hours drying duration) enhances the effect. After surface has fully hardened (approx. 24 hr) sand manually or mechanically with beige or green pad, sandpaper grade 120 - 180 or brush and clean of sanding dust.

      Important! Forceful sanding will reduce the brightening effect
      Make a trial first!

    • For the final treatment use BATIM Soaps or BIOFA oils, waxes or enamel paints depending on requirements and favoured surface.

    Cleaning of implements Clean immediately after use with water and NACASA Household Cleaner 4010.

    Maintenance and Care The maintenance and care instructions depend on the type of final treatment. Please refer to the BIOFA cleaning and maintenance instructions or respective Technical Data Sheets.

    Drying time Touch-dry after 2 - 5 hours. Fully hardened after approx. 24 hours. After 24 hours surface is ready for sanding, soaping, oiling, waxing or lacquering (23°C / 50 - 55% relative air moisture). If the drying times are nor observed yellowing of the wood can occur. Please make sure to ventilate well when working with the product and while it is drying.

    Usage / Coverage 100 - 125 ml / m² respectively 8 - 10 m² / l. The amount needed for surfaces with high absorbency such as wood plaster or end-grain wood is 3 - 4 times as much.

    Storage

    Seal well and keep in a cool and frost-free area.

    Safety Precautions Irritating to the eyes. Keep out of the reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes. Always wear safety goggles or face protection when working with the product. If products gets into the eyes rinse with lots of clean water and seek immediate medical advice. If product gets in contact with skin or any alkali-sensitive underground such as lacquer, metal, synthetics, glass, natural stone, clinker, ceramic etc. wash off immediately with lots of clean water.

    Disposal Large amounts must be disposed according to the local rules and regulations. Ordinary leftovers must be thinned with water (1:20) and can be tipped down the drain. Dispose empty and clean containers according to the local rules and regulations.
