Drying Times The paint can be painted over after 6 - 12 hours, depending on room temperature and relative humidity.
The surface should be washable after about 10 days.

    Uses

EarthBorn Clay Paint is good for covering and filling dry, absorbent, grease-free surfaces such as wallpaper, wood, plaster and most common mineral surfaces.
    EarthBorn Clay Paint
can also be used on previously painted surfaces.

    Properties

EarthBorn Clay Paint allows surfaces to breathe and absorbs variations in humidity making for a more comfortable and healthy living environment. It does not build up static, covers fully while still wet and is virtually non-drip. Thanks to a high proportion of solids, the paint covers exceptionally well.

    Preparation

All old coats that are water-soluble, such as whitewash or distempers, must be washed off completely before painting.
Loose particles of old paints should be removed with a brush or scraper.
Sandy / powdery surfaces should first be stabilised with
EarthBorn Wall Glaze before applying EarthBorn Clay Paint.
Stains which come through the paint (such as water, nicotine, etc) should first be treated with an insulative primer made on a natural oil base.
Very smooth, non-absorbent surfaces must be sanded. Clay walls must be moistened before the application of EarthBorn Clay Paint.

    Application

Stir before use. Apply the paint with a roller or brush in a thin even coat. Spread the paint evenly in all directions (you can also use a spray gun). On light coloured, smooth surfaces one coat is normally sufficient. On very absorbent surfaces such as fresh plaster use a priming coat of Clay Paint diluted with up to 20% water and finish with an undiluted final coat. Allow each coat to dry before applying the next coat. Because EarthBorn Clay Paint is a natural product there may be subtle changes of shade between batches; avoid starting a new container in the middle of a wall.

Colour Mixing The colour tones can be mixed with each other.

Colouring with EarthBorn Pigments By adding EarthBorn Pigments, EarthBorn White or Off-White Clay Paint can be given another colour tone. Semi-transparent finishes (similar to colour washes) can be obtained by adding more water. Follow the pigment preparation instructions and allow the pigments to soak in water until completely dissolved. The soaked and well stirred pigments should then be added to the Clay Paint (white or off-white) and stirred in thoroughly. With high-intensive colour tones (e.g. ultramarine blue, violet or iron-oxide red) the paint must be applied in particularly even coats. The Off-White Clay Paint does not contain white pigments and will give more intensive colour tones than White Clay Paint when mixed with EarthBorn Pigments.

To ensure washability, smoothness and uniformity of the finished surface, use no more than 5 - 8% pigments or 20% water (i.e. 580g pigment or 2 litres water per 10 litres EarthBorn Clay Paint). In cases where more pigments or water are added, ensure that the surface is stabilised with EarthBorn Wall Glaze (diluted 2 parts water to one part Wall Glaze) after the last coat is completely dry.

Cleaning It is important to clean rollers, brushes and tools using warm soapy water immediately after use. The term washable refers to the durability of the paint and its resistance to abrasion.
