    Coverage

    30 - 40 square metres per litre.

    Preparation

Surfaces must be sound, dry, clean, and free of dust & grease. All wall surfaces should be base painted with either Casein Paint, Emulsion, Textured Wall Finish or Modelling Plaster. Seal Casein Paint, Emulsion, Textured Wall Finish and Modelling Plaster with one coat of Glaze Medium, diluted 1 part Glaze Medium to 3 parts water, before colourwashing.

    Application

    Shake container well before use.
Colourwash can be applied with a sponge or brush. For specific application see Special Effects Sheets.
Depending on depth of colour required, apply up to three coats.
For lighter coats, dilute with Clear Colourwash. For Terracotta and Aqua, up to 25% water can be added to extend working time.
Allow Colourwash to dry between each coat.

Sealing Colourwash: For hardwearing areas and to make the surface wipeable, finish colourwash with a sealing coat of 2 parts Glaze Medium, 1 part WBC Wax and 3 parts water mixed together and apply with a varnish brush.

    Colouring

Additional colours can be created by adding NBT Colour Concentrate or Pigments to Clear Colourwash. Never use oil or acrylic pastes or tinters.

    Adding Colour Concentrate:
Add up to 1part colour concentrate to 2 parts Clear Colourwash and mix well - always test for colour intensity on paper/sample board.

    Adding Pigment:
Soak dry Pigment (making a note of the amounts used) in a little warm water and mix with a small amount of Clear Colourwash to make a paste, add the rest of the Clear Colourwash and mix well to create your colourwash

    Drying Time

Depending on internal temperature and relative humidity, allow approximately 3 hours drying time between coats. Colourwash is wipeable after 14 days.

    Cleaning

Wash tools with warm water. Wash hands using Hand Cleaner, if required.

    Storage

Keep container tightly sealed and store in a cool, dry and frost-free place.
Shelf life is 6 months for unopened containers.

    Note

Note: Our standard colours are made using a traditional batch process. Because of this, there may be slight colour variations between batches and the colour charts. Whilst every precaution is taken to ensure colour continuity, please make sure you have sufficient paint from the same batch to complete your work.

This technical sheet is a guideline for Retailers and paint users. However, the user is responsible for testing the product on the intended surface to ensure that it is suitable for their requirements.
