PREVENTATIVE AND CURATIVE TREATMENT WITH NAHOS code 1035
| Use |
Interior / Exterior (if covered with a coloured finish) |
| Phase | Water
based |
| Composition | Water,
Aluminium Oxide, Calcium Oxide, fruit acids, Potassium Palmitate, Silicate,
Silicate acid, Magnesium Oxide, Sodium Carbonate, Sodium Chloride, translucent
vegetable colours, vegetable fats, vegetable oils. |
| Properties |
Nahos is a concentrated
product, free from solvents and artificial pesticides, which can be diluted
with water for the preventative and curative treatment of wood. |
| Areas of application |
NAHOS is used for the preventative treatment of wood against insects and
fungi. In curative treatments it can be used against death-watch beetle
and other insects of similar size as well as wood affected by bluing. It
strengthens infested, crumbling wood, in the process rendering the wood
less flammable. NAHOS is particularly suitable for the cleaning, restoration
and care of old buildings and antique wood. It is also suitable for rooms needing to conform to regulations for food preparation, rooms occupied by the sick, for those suffering from allergies, for children’s rooms or for structures where livestock is kept (beehives, stables etc). |
| Preparation | The
wood to be treated must be clean, dry and free from dust and grease. Wash
down with water or soap and water (the soap must be of neutral ph) and left
to dry thoroughly. Old paint and/or varnish must be removed. |
| Directions for use | Stir
the concentrate thoroughly, add 9 parts of water to 1 part NAHOS and stir
thoroughly again. Apply the mixture with a brush, spray gun or by dipping.
Wait until the first coat has dried thoroughly before applying the next
coat. Apply about 200ml per m² and apply two to three coats. While you are
working, stir the mixture regularly. In case of insect infestation, inject
the product directly into the insect runs using a syringe or a pressure
gun. If the infestation is severe, then use a less diluted solution (1 part
NAHOS to 5 parts water). Exterior treated wood must be lightly rubbed down after the wood is dry and painted with a coloured finishing product such as shellac or a stain. Caution! Do a preliminary patch test before using the product. In case of spillage on metal, wash immediately with water. If there are fungi or moulds found on the product when the container is first opened they are not a sign of defect but rather an indication of the biological purity of the product showing that there are no preservatives used. The mould can be lifted off the surface and the product used as normal. |
| Coverage |
One litre of NAHOS
diluted with nine litres of water will treat about 50m² (one coat). The
amount of product used will vary depending on the type, absorbency and
thickness of wood. Wood which is much damaged, rough sawn or wood with
heavy insect runs will need more product than average. |
| Drying time | Wood
can be re-coated after 24 hours (at 200 °C and 60% air moisture) |
| Cleaning of materials |
With soap and water. |
| Storage |
Store
in cool, dry conditions. Close any used containers tightly and protect from
frost. |
| Availability | Available
in 250 ml and 1 litre |
| Safety precautions | Natural
products should be kept out of reach of children. Recycling Dispose of empty
containers and any remaining liquid at a recycling centre. Any dry residue
can be thrown away with domestic rubbish. Recycling code for liquids: 060199 |
