    NATURAL TINTER

    Technical Information Sheet

Use Natural Tinter can be mixed with NBT water-based products including NBT Brilliant White or Low Titanium Emulsion to create a coloured emulsion. Natural Tinter can be mixed with NBT Emulsion in any percentage to achieve a complete spectrum of shades e.g.. 5% concentrate can be added to 95% emulsion or vice versa. The pastel colours can be achieved with Brilliant White Emulsion and stronger colours with Low Titanium Emulsion. It can also be used undiluted for stencilling, special effects and finger painting.

    Properties

Natural Tinter is in liquid form and is produced from NBT pigments that contain different sized particles that give the colour its vibrancy. Some tinters are UV resistant and all are lime resistant.

    Colour

Wine Red, Burnt Red, Autumn Orange, Flame Red, Dusk Pink, Deep Purple, Storm Purple, Iris Blue, Sea Blue, Leaf Green, Vine Green, Willow Green, Earth Brown, Mustard Yellow and Sand Yellow.
    Sizes

    500ml, 250ml and 125ml containers.

    Coverage

Approximately 8m² per litre (When used in emulsion)

    Preparation

Surfaces must be sound, absorbent, dry, clean, and free of dust & grease. Remove all loose plaster, make good with Filler and sand to a smooth finish.
Fix all sandy/powdery surfaces first with Glaze Medium - See Technical Information Sheet.
All unstable (flaking or peeling) paint surfaces, especially water-soluble distempers, must be removed or washed off before applying Natural Tinter or a coloured emulsion. Oil paints must be lightly sanded and primed with Glaze Medium

    Application

Shake the bottle vigorously before use.

Combine the required quantities of Natural Tinter and NBT Emulsion and mix thoroughly with a whisk until completely blended. Some Natural Tinters can thicken the paint. This can be thinned with up to 20% water. An electric drill with a whisk attachment is useful for mixing large quantities of paint. Apply with a brush, roller or spray gun. When using roller or spray gun you may need to thin the paint further with water.

To produce the colours indicated on the Tinter charts:
Add required amount of Tinter (this can be done in the emulsion container) and mix thoroughly as above - see technical information sheet for details of application.

    Drying Time

In normal temperatures and humidity, allow 6-8 hours drying time between coats. The painted surface is wipeable after 10 days

    Cleaning

Wash tools with warm water. Wash hands using Hand Cleaner, if required.

    Storage

Keep container tightly sealed and store in a cool, dry and frost-free place.
Shelf life is 12 months for unopened containers.

    Health & Safety

  • Keep container sealed and out of the reach of children.
  • Natural Tinter is biodegradable but DO NOT empty into drains or watercourses.

  • Ingredients

Water, earth & mineral pigments, cellulose, clays, vinegar ester, kieselguhr, silicic acid, 0.1% preservative.

    Note

These unique tinters are made from natural pigments. In some circumstances additional rollering/brushwork may be needed to work the pigment uniformly onto your surface.

This technical sheet is a guideline for Retailers and paint users. However, the user is responsible for testing the product on the intended surface to ensure that it is suitable for their requirements.
