    CREATING A POLISHED STUCCO FINISHES

    Technical Information Sheet

Polished Stucco Finish is a stunning superior effect for walls which is very easy to make and gives a unique professional finish at a fraction of the cost of other similar commercially produced products on the market today.

Having prepared your surface for painting apply a 'thinned' priming coat of Casein (make up Casein Paint as per Technical Instruction Sheet 110. Add enough water to make a very thin milky consistency) and apply to your surface. Allow to dry 3 hours.

    Stucco: Mixing and Application

    1. Place 1/3 pigment and 2/3 Casein into a container and mix well.

    2. Add enough water to obtain a thick pudding like paste.

    3. Add 1/3 Glaze Medium and mix/whisk together well. Mixture should be thick, creamy yet flexible.

    4. Apply the stucco paste approximately 2mm thick with a trowel to your prepared surface, smoothing stucco out with the trowel (like applying plaster). Keep the trowel slightly raised on one side to avoid sticking or streaking.

    5. Allow to dry 24 hours and sand lightly.

    6. Apply a second coat approximately 2mm thick, again smoothing the stucco out with trowel to obtain a very smooth flat finish.

    7. Allow to dry 24 hours and sand with medium grade sandpaper or 0000 grade wire wool.

    8. Apply Preserving Wax or WBC Wax to seal the stucco, allow to dry 24 hours. Buff/polish to a high sheen - See Wax Technical Sheets.

    9. To make the surface water repellent, apply 'clear' Antique Wax. See Antique Wax Technical Sheet.
