CREATING SPECIAL FINISHES ON WOODEN FURNITURE
Technical Information Sheet
| Our
high solid emulsion paint has immense covering power and can be used on
wooden furniture and sealed with various mediums to give a lasting and
enhancing finish. Having followed preparation and application instruction for Emulsion Paint as per Technical Information Sheet, the following 'special' finishes can be achieved: Sealing Emulsion with WBC Wax, Glaze Medium or Antique Waxes. Sealing Emulsion which has been painted on to a wooden surface or object gives a textured finish which can be made water resistant by applying WBC Wax, Glaze Medium or Antique Wax. Having prepared your surface or object, apply a priming coat of watered down Emulsion. Allow to dry for 2-3 hours and sand lightly. Then apply 2 coats of Emulsion using either a brush, paint pad or roller. Application of two thin even coats is best, allowing each coat to dry for 2-4 hours. Lightly sand between coats for a smooth finish. To seal the Emulsion apply either Glaze Medium, WBC Wax or Antique Wax. 1) Using Glaze Medium Dilute Glaze Medium - 2 parts water 1 part Glaze Medium. Apply to surface. Allow to dry for 1-3 hours. The Glaze Medium can also be tinted with Colour Concentrates and applied to the emulsion surface to give a transparent glaze finish. Application: Mix 1 part Colour Concentrate with 3 parts Glaze Medium and 4 parts water. Apply to your surface using a brush. Allow to dry for 3 hours. Apply a second coat for a deeper colour. For hard wearing surfaces, seal with another coat of diluted Glaze Medium. The surface is wipeable after 3 hours. To make the surface water repellent, apply a coat of 'clear' Antique Wax. 2) Using WBC Wax Once your Emulsion is dry you can apply a number of coats of WBC Wax depending on the finish you require. Application: Dilute 1 part WBC Wax with 2 parts water. Apply with a brush or painters pad. Allow to dry for 30 minutes. Use a white scotch pad and buff or polish to a soft sheen. Colouring WBC Wax WBC Wax can be tinted with Colour Concentrates giving a transparent waxed finish. Mix 1 part Colour Concentrate with 4 parts WBC Wax and 2 parts water. Mix well and apply to your surface with a brush - gently brushing out any bubbles that appear. Allow to dry 30 minutes. Apply a second coat for deeper colour. Use a white scotch pad to buff or polish to a soft sheen. |
