Oakcote 600 Water Repellent for Wood is a specially formulated, waterborne, fast-drying protective coating for internal and external application. After applying, the product develops a micro-porous coat which, depending on the loading, will not significantly alter the appearance of the substrate.
Oakcote 600 Water Repellent for Wood imparts water and dirt resistance to exterior and interior ‘green’ oak and other forms of timber joinery. The micro-porous nature of the coating allows timber to dry slowly, reducing cracks and shakes and enabling the timber to age naturally.
Contains no fungicides or UV controlling pigments. It will inhibit organic growth through its water repellent properties.
Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free of oil, grease and loose material. Remove all organic growth such as mosses, lichens, mould and fungi. Lightly abrade prepared timber with wire wool or fine grade Aluminium Oxide paper to reduce surface gloss and increase absorption.
Traditionally constructed frames should be shaped and all pegs, tree nails and dowels fitted prior to coating.
A single-pack, ready-to-use aqueous solution of carboxyl metal complexes and waxes.
Dependent on application. May result in a waxy finish for heavy applications. Oakcote Water Repellent for Wood does not significantly alter the colour and tone once dry.
- Colour: Clear
- Touch dry @ 20°C: 3-5 minutes
- Hard Dry @ 20°C: 1 hour
- Shower proof @ 20°C: After approximately 5 hours
- Shelf-life: Approximately 12 months
- Theoretical Coverage: 5-30 m²/litre
- Clean up with water
Shake the contents before and periodically during use.
Apply by brush or short pile roller always working to a wet edge.
Brush out thoroughly avoiding areas that have already dried. Do not over-brush once the product has started to dry or on very porous surfaces.
Wipe away excess product with paper towel and avoid pooling.
For deeper tones or when a wax finish is required, such as with floors, lay-off early and buff with a soft, lint-free cloth once the coat has dried. It is impossible to apply subsequent coats or any other paint system once the initial coat has dried.
Remove excess wax with a sharp plastic or metal scraper.
Limitations of Use
Do not apply if there is a likelihood or rain, fog or frost before the coating has completely dried, if the surface is wet or if within 3°C of the dew point. Surfaces treated with Oakote will not accept waterborne or solvent-based paints.
Store in frost-free conditions. Keep out of direct sunlight.
