Description
Kreidezeit Stuccolustro is a natural, high quality polished plaster for internal use which produces the fascinating lustre and transparency of polished marble.
Stuccolustro is a plaster which uses fine marble sand. The resulting slightly thicker layer provides a vivid optical depth and translucency typical of polished stucco plaster. The overall thickness will usually be approximately 1 mm and results in a single colour application only.
For layered colours of Venetian plaster, use Kreidezeit Stucco Fine.
Venetian plaster has been used since the middle ages to create stunning finishes. There are many differing names in use today for this type of finish – these kinds of plaster are often called ‘polished plaster’ or ‘marbled plaster’ because of the typical finishes that can be achieved.
It is recommended for surfaces with shiny and transparent looks of polished marble. Wonderful shades of colour can be created by using the Venetian plaster technique and then burnishing with a trowel.
Suitable for application on to walls and ceilings on solid mineral plasters, concrete and plasterboard. We recommend a preparation coat of Lime Wall Finish Smooth.

Composition (Full Declaration)
Marble powder and -sand, marble lime hydrate, cellulose, methyl cellulose, kaoline.
Coverage
1 kg/m² for a 2 coat application.
Bag coverage:
2.5kg = 2.5m²
10kg = 10m²
Application
Primer
Apply a base coat to all renders, fillers, plasterboard and concrete with Vega Primer or Casein Primer and leave to dry completely.
Backing Coat
For the creation of an evenly absorbent and evenly textured substrate apply a smooth or lightly textured intermediate layer with Kreidezeit Lime Wall Finish Smooth.
Application
Application temperature at least 8°C.
Stuccolustro is applied thinly in two layers using a Venetian trowel. Spray a little water on to dry surfaces.
Apply the first layer thinly, evenly and entirely without trowel pressure.
Wait at least 3 hours.
The second layer is also applied thinly but in small spots with higher pressure. The typical light-and-dark colour effects and the shiny surface are achieved by compressing with the Venetian trowel.
A darker, deeper hue occurs where the spots overlay during compressing. Leave the second layer to set.
Soaping
When the surface has become bright, apply Kreidezeit Polishing Soap thickly, regularly and all over the surface with a soft brush. After a short setting time compress and polish with a trowel while taking off surplus material. Through this, a higher gloss and a water and dirt repellent surface is achieved.
The effects can be intensified by using a heated trowel (60 -80 ºC).
Chemically this process creates an insoluble lime-soap by the reaction of polishing soap with the lime in the surface.
Further Treatments
After at least 24 hours of drying time and to achieve a higher gloss, apply Kreidezeit Punic Wax thinly and polish with a Venetian Trowel.
